By Clint Kerns When you are at your wits end, just flat out worn out emotionally and physically or just simply having what you think is the worst day of your life, the best thing that you can do is relax. You may think that sitting down and watching TV is a healthy form of relaxation, but this is not recommended by most experts. While you are watching TV you are bombarded by commercials, advertisements, diverse sounds and various images that may be disturbing . So what is the best method of relaxation? If there are a plethora of ways in which we become stressed, there are also many different ways in which we can relax. In modern studies on stress, the experts have come to the conclusion that heart disease and varied other physical problems probably are linked to irritability and anger which in turn is linked to mental stress. An excess of stress brings about ischemia that can lead to a heart attack. When you look at stress with this knowledge and in light of these results, you can see the benefitsimportance of learning to relax. Anger management and a great attitude and outlook is vital to heart health, and proper relaxation can help you manage stress. A beneficial way of relaxation is praying . Recent studies have shown that when a person who is under stress takes time to stop and pray, their blood flow and perspiration which is an indicator of the level of stress, changes dramatically . Experts also discovered that practitioners of prayer significantly reduced the thickness of their arterial wall compared with those who did not . Another effective method of relaxation is Acupuncture . Acupuncture, appears to reduce high blood pressure. It accomplishes this by initiating several body functions for the brain to release a chemical compound known as endorphins and this helps to ease panic, decrease pain, relax muscles, and reduce anxiety. Another relaxation method which may have analogous effects to acupuncture is Yoga. In a controlled study, the participants were exposed to several minutes of mental stress. Then varied relaxation techniques, such as listening to nature sounds or classical music were used. The control group who did Yoga greatly reduced the time it took for their blood pressures to return to normal significantly. Yoga is a form of progressive relaxation. Progressive relaxation involves focusing on relaxing different muscles in a progressive order. Some yoga instructors lead participants through relaxing the muscles, but you can use progressive relaxation on your own as well. One of the (simplest ways to relax, and it may seem simple, but it is effective , is Breathing. Breathing influences every aspects of the human body both physically and emotionally. If you will just focus on your breathing you can feel its effects almost right away. There are different breathing techniques that will help one decrease stress. Exercise is also an effective relaxation technique. If you feel angry or irritated many times a half-hour of exercise can often relieve stress. Although exercise is a great way to lose weight, it does not effectively show you how to best manage stress. Exercise should also be used in conjunction with other relaxation methods. Massage therapy can also be a successful relaxation technique as well . For this to be of use as a relaxation technique it requires that you fully surrender to the handling and touch of the massuse , which of course requires a great amount of trust. Other controversial techniques such as Biofeedback and Hypnosis are alternative methods for individuals who think that they have no idea what it feels like to be relaxed. Prescribed Drugs are extreme alternatives to relaxation. This method is not always safe and may not be as productive as the other relaxation methods. Prescription medication should only be used as prescribed by a trusted medical professional. These are just a few relaxation techniques and just some of the ways you can achieve relaxation. You can live completely without panic |
